Stamping is a cold stamping processing method that uses machinery to apply pressure to metal, and different processing methods such as extrusion, cutting, and bending to form metal raw materials. During the stamping process, the metal will be compressed and stretched, constantly pressing the physical particles of the metal, thereby increasing the metal density. Compared with the casting method, the stamping technology can not only increase the metal density but also avoid the rough surface and cracks produced by the casting method.

The early stamping technology appeared in Germany in the middle of the sixteenth century. Marx Schwab developed a stamping method of coinmaking, in which 12 people jointly turned a large wheel to press metal raw materials into coins. The mature stamping technology began in the 1880s, used for mass production of bicycle parts, and its low-cost advantage replaced the forging method. Later, the stamping technology was spread to the United States, and the American industrial machinery company began to produce customized stamping machines for mass production of auto parts. Until now, the application of stamping technology has not been limited to automotive parts, from military, aviation, construction to home appliances and jewelry can see the application of stamping technology.
